Library Science

In Library Science class, various forms of media, print and technology are utilized.  The library science teacher in the kindergarten to third grade leads the students in a study of classic American literature.  Fourth to eighth graders study the organization of a library using the Dewey Decimal System, author studies and current events.  The program is further complemented by author visits and field trips. An additional 45 minutes Study Skills Class has been incorporated into the sixth through eighth students’ weekly schedule.  The teacher models for the students’ personal time management, how to approach studying for a test and plan for long term projects, in preparation for the rigors of high school.
